I just wanted to say THANK YOU Sydney's story Sydney McCutcheon Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 5:53 PM Just wanted to say “thank you”. Was receiving therapy early this morning at Cedars-Sinai Cancer Outpatient Center, working on feeling positive about myself, the world, the treatments, the cancer, and the next minute an elderly woman came up to me and handed me a Binky out of left field. At first I really didn’t know what to say or think, but I felt the handmade quilt and then saw the handmade label and it brought tears to my eyes. I’m a 46 year old man and it is rare that I am reduced to tears, but this heartfelt homemade piece of fabric meant more today than priceless jewels, truly brightened up a rough moment and gave me a much needed positive outlook for the day. I came back to my office and shared the Binky story with my co-workers who are in awe of this piece of fabric and I have encouraged them to step outside their boxes and let them know how acts of kindness really can brighten someone’s day, among other things. So I proudly have my Binky wrapped around my sore arms as I type this email and it will stay with me for life, a great memory but also a great reminder how the quiet work of strangers can have such an impact. Thanks again to the Laguna chapter of Binky, Sydney McCutcheon |
