On March 13, 2009, my sister, niece and nephew took 500 quilts and blankets to Summerville, Ga. where a friend works. 93% of these kids are below poverty level. We though we had taken the needed 406, we miscounted. God must have had some plans. Because our friend forgot to include the Head Start Program and Daycare. We had only 15 left over. Then just last evening our friend Janine, called needing more. A couple had adopted a little girl who was blind & deaf with only one leg. What a big heart these people have. My sister called to ask if we could send another 25. After our agencies in our county is covered, we go else where to share. One thing about my chapter, most of the ladies are Seniors or disabled, as I and my sister. Some are nursing home residents, as you know. Making quilts & blankets is their everyday job. Ethel, who's 90 works everyday on quilts, then her night job is making hats. I can't believe these women. For me it's a full time job. My brother passed away on March 6, money was donated in his name. He died exactly one year later then my Mother. The money donated, we used for gas go get us the 500 miles to Georgia. Janine Pendergrass housed us. We spent 3 days before starting home again. Holiday Inn donated tons of the soap, shampoo,& lotion. Sandy, a church friend, bought candy and made up 410 bags for the kids. We had such a great time watching the kids pick a blanket or quilt. One little girl choose one with a cow, so another child wanted one. We almost didn't find one. But we did. We have pictures if you'd like to see them. God has truly blessed our chapter. We started March 4, 2000, have made and given over 25,000 quilts and blankets to date. Sincerely, Angela
