Making it official: Jeanne’s dedication to our mission gets the recognition it deserves
We’re thrilled to make it official – Jeanne Malgioglio has been formally named as a Director of Binky Patrol Comforting Covers for Kids! While Jeanne has been contributing at a director level for several years, we’re excited to officially recognize the incredible work she’s already been doing to help us make blankets, make friends, and make a difference.
Jeanne brings a great skill at connecting people for the good of the kids and community, and an incredible passion for making sure every child knows they matter, they’re not invisible, not forgotten, and that SOMEONE cares about them. That’s what our binkies are all about – a simple reminder wrapped in something soft and made from the heart.
“I am both honored and thrilled. I always tell people that I have 3 loves on this earth- my family/friends, my school where I teach, and Binky Patrol. This was amazing news to hear!,” said Jeanne Malgioglio. Founder, Susan Finch says, “I can’t believe it took us this long to invite her to the board. Her heart is 100% Binky Patrol-aligned.”
As we kick off another year of delivering comfort to kids who need it most, Jeanne’s official director role comes at a perfect time. She’s already been creating social materials to support our new tagline – Make blankets. Make friends. Make a difference. – and her leadership will help us share this message even more widely. With over 1 million blankets delivered (or thereabouts!) over three decades, we’ve learned that it doesn’t take much to change a life – just one hour a month volunteering can make all the difference.
Binky Patrol operates as a 100% volunteer organization, welcoming all ages and skill levels. We make blankets for children in hospitals, shelters, crisis centers, and anywhere kids need a reminder that they’re loved. Our volunteers range from scout troops to church groups, from families looking for a meaningful project to individuals fulfilling community service hours.
Jeanne has been such a regular on her local news stations – she jumps in for all national crises such as joining forces with Al’s Angels to get a semi-truck with clothing and blankets to Altadena and by helping the Texas flood victims through Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW.org) Jeanne is a connector.
About Binky Patrol Comforting Covers for Kids. Founded 30 years ago, Binky Patrol Comforting Covers for Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing homemade blankets to children in need. With chapters across the United States, our volunteers have delivered over one million blankets to hospitals, shelters, crisis centers, and other agencies serving children. Every binky serves as a tangible reminder that someone cares. Our mission: Make blankets. Make friends. Make a difference. Learn more at binkypatrol.org.
Want to get involved? Find a chapter near you at binkypatrol.org, or better yet – start your own! You could even host a small Bink-A-Thon with just your friends, neighbors, family, church, club, or school. We’ve done HUNDREDS of these over our 30 years, and they’re always a lot of fun.
Remember: we’re not strict about patterns, but we do ask that all binkies are super soft, washable, can go through a dryer on high heat, and come from smoke-free homes. From three-foot squares up to twin bed size – all patterns are acceptable as long as they’re made with love.
