We didn’t just warm up January we made it SIZZLE!  South-West Metro Binky Patrol volunteers along with local Girl Scout Troops, Chaska Key Club, elementary school groups, and children from various neighborhoods presented 489 blankets on Saturday to the MN Sheriff’s Association.  That’s 189 over our goal!

Carver County Sheriff and President of the MN Sheriff’s Association, Bud Olson, along with Jim Franklin, Executive Director of the MN Sheriff’s Association were present to accept the blankets from over 70 youth and adult volunteers.

Melissa and Kelli Palmer of the Chaska Key Club contribute to the South-West Metro Binky patrol effort.  Chaska High School contributed materials for 60 blankets
These blankets, “Binkies”, will be distributed around the state of Minnesota and placed in the trunks of squad cars to aid officers when dealing with children in crisis. They will be used in situations like the story Mr. Franklin told the children, about a time when he carried a child from the frozen waters of Lake Minnetonka wrapped in his coat and wished he’d have had one of our blankets.

We greatly appreciate and would like to thank the local business that sponsored Saturday’s presentation. From Chanhassen: Golden Tan, Spalon Montage, Chanhassen Car Wash, Center Drug, Chanhassen Floral, Someone’s House Gifts, U.S. Nails, County Market, Byerlys, Target, and the Instant Web Companies. From Chaska: E & B Gift Baskets, Dairy Queen, Chestnuts Restaurant, Chaska Bakery, and Culvers. With their support our event was a great success.

Thanks and great gratitude to Living Christ Lutheran Church for allowing us to meet and operate Binky Patrol out of the church. Their kindness and support is a huge part of our success.
