Binky Patrol founder, Susan Finch, shared, “With this support from Hitachi, we can get our Binky labels printed. We put labels on the blankets for one reason – so that the one time a child is in a shelter and needs another blanket for a sibling or incoming friend, they can find us and we will get them a binky! We’ll use the rest of the money for batting to make our binkies soft and warm.” Binky Patrol partners with HandsOn Greater Portland twice a year, and Comcast once a year to gather over 100 people at each event to spend a day making blankets for delivery that same week.
Hitachi sent a letter to Binky Patrol in Beaverton, “We extend our best wishes for success in accomplishing your goals and thank you for your efforts to make a difference in the lives of our local community.” Hitachi CAC committee chairperson, Karen Taylor, said of the grant, “We are so pleased to help make a difference in so many children’s lives. We look forward to getting involved in making some covers ourselves. Thank you Susan for all you do for these less fortunate children.”
