It has been an amazing journey filled with so many angels along the way. Our sponsors that have been with us since our first year include:
- Commpro, LLC, Eagle, ID for web hosting,
- Hoffman Fabrics, Mission Viejo, CA
- Wal-Mart
- JoAnn Fabric
- Pfizer
- United Way
- Starbucks
Some of our volunteers and chapter leaders have been with us for years and years. visit your local chapter page to see if they have their anniversary badge up there yet.
Some of them are newer. Those who have been with us for so long have watched us transition from an organization with 8 women where I had 14 hours a day to devote to my journey into motherhood, national chapters and tens of thousands of volunteers ranging in age from 3 to 93.
We have gone from donated fabric from local picture framing shops, printed newsletters and bulk mail accounts to being green and online with fabulous donations of quilting fabrics, pajama materials and other cozy stuff to make our binkies.
All the while we have made binkies, binkies, binkies to deliver to children and teens in need of comfort throughout the country. Our mission has never changed. We make blankets to give to children and teens in need of comfort regarding of demographics, economic status or social situation. There is never a criteria or judgment. If a child is scared, sick, abused, sad – they need a reminder that someone is thinking of them and that they are not forgotten.
I’d like to venture a guess that we’ve delivered over 750,000 binkies. It could be a lot more or a little less because we don’t always have reporting chapters and some take the idea and run with it. We don’t receive reports from them, but we know we continue to inspire more to make a difference. It’s not about the numbers, ego or recognition. It’s all about binkies for kids.
