The Space Coast Chapter held its Bink-A-Thon on October 18, 2003 at the Cocoa Library from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Although the chapter had only eighteen volunteers this year the totals surpassed last year’s. The chapter is very happy with the results of the day’s efforts. There were 63 binkies, 114 baby caps, 6 booties, 6 hand made toys, and 2 bags of baby clothes dropped off as donations. Forty seven binkies were made during the Bink-A-Thon. That’s a grand total of 110 binkies!

Florida’s newest chapter coordinator, Kay Masciale, from St. Augustine drove down the coast to join the Space Coast Chapter to learn what a Bink-A-Thon was like. She will be hosting a St. Augustine Bink-a-Thon next year for her chapter. Kay is a wonderful addition to our Binky family – she is full of enthusiasm and ideas.

The Space Coast Chapter is now gearing up for the upcoming holiday season by making stockings for the Rain Water Center for Girls, a local teen crisis center that provided guidance, education and support for girls in crisis. The stockings will be stuffed with goodies for the teen girls and distributed at the annual holiday party in December. Each girl will receive a filled stocking and a binky.

If anyone has access to or knows of someplace where the chapter can obtain low cost gifts to fill the stockings please contact Liz Casper at spacecoastbinky@mac.com .
