No Federal Funding Available for Assistance
It’s me, Anna Lynn. Remember, a few years ago (on Valentine’s Day) I put out an alert for binkies because a tornado that had hit in our area of GA. Well, a couple of weeks ago, it hit in the exact same place, but, this time, they cannot get any financial aid from the Federal Government because 75 homes were not destroyed! Can you believe that–it was only 22 homes.
The following memo came out to us today:
Donations for Tornado victimes will be collected Friday (today) and again after Spring Break by the Interact Club.
Help is urgently needed. Twenty-two families have lost everything, have no insurance, and are unable to receive federal disaster assistance. Help must come from donations and the Red Cross has received almost nothing.
Items collected tomorrow will be delivered tomorrow to Camilla for immediate assistance. Thank you for helping those who are so despeate. (End memo)
If you could get a few binkies, especially teen size, I would appreciate it and make sure that they are delivered.
There are 34 children (Under 16) included in this group. This is a farming community and most lost their farms. Also, there were six deaths so far.

UPDATE:
Binkies were sent and received last week (4/7). Thank you JC Carter, Virginia and Jack Arnold, Laura McCoy, Susan Staebell for answering this call. It’s amazing how we all can pull it together so quickly. Technology, quilting, knitting and crocheting. Who would have thought they all worked so well together!
