camping club in Southern California that is for Lazy Daze Motorhome owners only

Four years ago, as the Coordinator of the Women’s Only group of our club, Peggy Zabel decided to have their May outing be a Charity Sew-A-Thon. They have made pillow cases, adult bibs, troop bags for servicemen serving overseas and Binky Blankets. They have an area at the May outing with tables, chairs, outlets and lots of room so they decided to make that our Charity Outing.

Peggy Zabel tells the story of how the Lazy Daze Caravan found Binky Patrol:

The Lazy Daze Caravan Club (I am chairman of the club) is a camping club in Southern California that is for Lazy Daze Motorhome owners only. We camp each month (except July and August) at various campgrounds in the Southern California area.

Four years ago, as the Coordinator of the Women’s Only group of our club, I decided to have our May outing be a Charity Sew-A-Thon. We have made pillow cases, adult bibs, troop bags for servicemen serving overseas and Binky Blankets. We have an area at the May outing with tables, chairs, outlets and lots of room so we decided to make that our Charity Outing. Hence, is our Binky Blanket project.

I researched making blankets for charity and found a few charities….one of those was Binky Patrol. Women bring their sewing machines, cutting boards, scissors and everything you need to create a project. Our men carry all of these items from the motorhomes to the pavilion area where we get to work.

Since it is almost time for our charity sew-a-thon, a survey was taken and everyone wanted to do the blankets again! What is great about the fleece blankets, even if you don’t sew, you can participate! It was funny, after the women had been working for a couple of hours, some of the men started showing up. It was a fun project! I have attached some pictures of our ladies working on the Binky Blankets.
