307+ Binkies in 5 hours! AMAZING!
Thank you to Beaverton High School and the Key Club for hosting us, Comcast for sponsoring, donations from Hoffman Fabrics California International, Dutch Bros. on Hall, Embassy Suites and over 125 volunteers!
The day was a group effort that started with Comcast saying, “Let’s do it again!” Beaverton High School’s Key Club offered to sponsor the event on campus. They had a ton of volunteers. We had volunteers from our Hands On Portland event for MLK that joined us, students from Beaverton, parishioners from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, neighbors, friends and family.
Comcast has been holding this annual event for 12+ years across the country. This year they hit a milestone of 1,000,000 (1 MILLION) volunteers that have participated throughout the years! We had 135 volunteers plus our delivery team and the Comcast Call Center! We wee fed lunch from Comcast. Coffee from Dutch Bros. on Hall started our day, Embassy Suites and The Holiday Inn supplied the sheets we use for backings. We had regular volunteers show up with piles of tops ready to finish. We also had bolts and bolts of fleece for easy no-sew binkies that could be made by all ages and skill levels. There were about 20 sewing machines going throughout the day.
They were all bagged and delivered within 24 hours of the event! We may only get together as a group twice a year, but we sure make it count in Beaverton!
