Area Coordinator of our Dallas Metroplex chapter, Theresa Costin, shared this story with us.

volunteers at Children's Health Center in Plano, TXMy name is Susie, and my husband, Doug, and I are weekly volunteers at Children’s Health in Plano. My husband has been working as a volunteer since 2011 and I joined him in 2021, after retirement. I took a picture of your toys with the information tag that provided me with your email address. I want to personally thank you for the wonderful “crocheted critters” Binky Patrol makes and distributes to the Plano Children’s Health Campus. One of our responsibilities is to load the toy cart with coloring books, crayons, and a myriad of donated toys, stuffed animals, and blankies, to give to the patients, from the tiniest on up. The crocheted items you create are so lovely and meaningful to both the children and their parents. If there are none or we are running low, I look forward to more coming, as they are my favorites to give to the patients.

It is such a joy to watch a child reach for the beautiful, soft, and colorful items you make, and see their eyes light up; even truly ill children will respond to them. Infants, as well as older children, love them. I encourage each patient, and parent, to give each “crocheted critter” a name and to care for their new friend. The work you do is so meaningful, and your items are so unique, I just wanted to reach out and thank you; your work truly makes a difference! Please share this with the amazing people who work for your organization.

We are, also, during the holiday time, Children’s Health Santa and Mrs. Claus, and do the tree lightings for both Plano and Downtown campuses. So, I can honestly tell you, per Santa, Binky Patrol is on the forever NICE list.

Thank you so much, and look forward to continuing to receive Binky Patrol’s “crocheted critters”.
