Sometimes even the littlest caregivers need to have the chance to be children. That is where this amazing national nonprofit, Kesem, helps. You will find Kesem on college campuses, and the student volunteers provide support and fun activities for children impacted by a parent’s cancer diagnosis. Each summer, many of the chapters provide an all-expenses-paid summer sleep-away camp experience for the kids so they can be kids for a week.

The Monroe/Trumbull CT chapter found out about Kesem, and they provided fleece binkies for all the campers at Camp Kesem Yale and Camp Kesem UCONN. A total of 200 children received the binkies on opening day. One counselor thanked us by saying, “It’s such a special touch to camp this year and we are so appreciative of all the work that went into making them… they (the children) bring them everywhere for movie night, cabin chats, and they brought a lot of comfort as they shared their stories about their parents’ cancer.”
